French Style Icon: Jane Birkin

Today we are going to highlight some of Jane Birkin's timeless looks. Birkin is known as a singer and style icon of the 60s/70s, and notably the muse and mistress of Serge Gainsbourg.

It exudes Parisian style with effortless flair and chic, as well as timelessness.

Birkin wears an all-white look, including a perfect white blouse in 1977. Our Louise Jacket in Blanc d'île d'Yeu is the perfect complement to this look. (https://www.elle.com.au/fashion/jane-birkin-style-18183)

Any ode to Birkin’s style would be incomplete without a mention of Gainsbourg. The two lovers are exhibited in 1969 at the École Nationale Supéieure des Beaux-Arts. The iconic basket bag is prominent in the image. One combination we love is Birkin’s messy hair and wool coat. Masculine and feminine is a concept that Birkin loved. She embodies the concept by pairing lingerie with a men's suit. This look, along with many of her others, was definitely ahead of its time. Our Louise Jacket in Noir Vendôme is perfect for recreating this look. (https://www.elle.com/uk/fashion/what-to-wear/articles/g28687/jane-birkin-style-icon- inspiration/?slide=12))

Birkin wore a lot of knitted mini dresses, especially in the 60s. In this particular image, she is wearing a very chic, yet easy and simple pink dress. Grab our Mathilde jacket in Rouge Amour to add some color to your look.

Fast forward to the 21st century as Birkin still carries a Parisian flair. In 2002, Birkin looked effortless on the red carpet in a bold, red, 90s dress . Our white Louise d'île d'Yeu jacket offers Parisian chic.
